OpenEconomics helps access and manage national and EU funds to build infrastructure, speed the green transition, and drive innovation.
CHALLENGES
Digital governance to ensure timely payments, compliant records and risk control
Clients are guided to select the most suitable calls for proposals for their objectives and to prepare increasingly competitive applications, aligned with the European assessment criteria of excellence, impact, and quality of implementation. Organizations must then manage increasingly complex execution, reporting, and verification processes—with large volumes of documentation, stringent milestones, and evolving regulatory requirements—ensuring compliance with controls, verifications, audits under grant agreements and EU rules. Effective digital governance and cross‑functional capabilities are therefore essential to ensure timely disbursement of payments, proper record‑keeping and compliant archiving, and the prevention of irregularities and administrative and legal risks.

SOLUTION
Faster delivery through structured processes and traceable documentation
Through tailored digital workflows, smart checklists, and integrated document repositories, OpenEconomics has enabled smooth and compliant management across many funding lines—NRRP (PNRR), Horizon Europe, energy funds, IPCEI programmes, and ERDF (FESR)—ensuring full alignment with control standards and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders.
SUCCESS STORIES
Grants that accelerate permitting, resilience and industrial innovation
Gas
An operator developing hydrogen infrastructure received a grant of €24 million for feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and field surveys. The OpenEconomics platform ensured integrated planning, accelerating the authorizations needed to launch strategic infrastructure for the energy transition.
Electricity
A power system operator obtained more than €3.6 billion in financing for Smart Grid projects and network climate‑resilience programmes. OpenEconomics digital document system enabled traceable and compliant proof of the capacity to integrate new renewable generation and strengthen the grid against extreme weather events.
Shipbuilding
A leading company developed hybrid propulsion systems with hydrogen fuel cells, benefiting from €356 million through a pan‑European programme. OpenEconomics advisory support ensured all required parameters were met, improving energy‑efficiency and sustainability outcomes.
Circular economy
A sector operator converted a local plant by integrating hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) technologies, shifting from landfill disposal to the recovery of secondary raw materials. With a €1 million public grant, OpenEconomics monitoring quantified increased circularity and the reduction of waste sent for disposal.
RESULTS AND ADDED VALUE
These projects show that data‑driven public funding, supported by digital tools, helps reduce the investment gap, facilitate the green transition, accelerate permitting, and generate tangible environmental, economic, and social spillovers.
• Compliance with 2021–2027 EU budget rules: high managerial efficiency across the entire cycle (planning, control, compliance from application through audits)
• Adoption of the Funding & Tenders Portal and Grant Management System: specialist advisory support for faster, end‑to‑end compliant processes, greater access to opportunities, more efficient reporting, and protection of public and private investments.
