OpenEconomics invests in Eoliann

A strategic investment to advance climate-risk modeling and socioeconomic analysis

A strategic step to strengthen the integration between socio-economic analysis and climate‑risk assessment.

OpenEconomics has invested in Eoliann’s €4.25 million seed round, a climate‑tech company that combines satellite data and artificial intelligence to analyze climate risks with state‑of‑the‑art algorithms for high efficiency and reliability. The round was led by Montage Ventures as lead investor, with participation from CDP Venture Capital, Terna Forward, and Primo Space.

The investment will be used to enhance Eoliann’s technology platform and accelerate its international expansion. As its predictive risk models advance, Eoliann will equip infrastructure companies, financial institutions, and public administrations with increasingly sophisticated tools to anticipate and precisely manage the consequences of climate change.

OpenEconomics’ participation aims to broaden its portfolio of solutions for risk and impact assessment, transforming metrics into cost‑benefit analyses, portfolio stress tests, ex‑ante and ex‑post evaluations, and investment planning. The objective is more comprehensive and accurate quantification for companies, financial institutions, and public bodies—ensuring methodological traceability and auditability—both before and after extreme events.

Eoliann’s distinctive edge lies in predictive models that, leveraging satellite data and proprietary algorithms, generate climate indicators that can be integrated to quantify physical risks and support operational decisions. These tools enable infrastructure firms, financial institutions, and public administrations to proactively anticipate and manage the impacts of climate change, with expanding coverage across major physical perils.

On 8 October, at the Quirinale Palace, the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic, Eoliann received the special mention “Eni Joule for Entrepreneurship,” presented by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

This recognition places Eoliann among the three most innovative and sustainable Italian entrepreneurial ventures and underscores the strategic value of technologies and applications rooted in geospatial data.
